Having recently returned from the Health Ingredients Europe exhibition in Amsterdam, I noted a few ingredients that seemed to be trending, in terms of conversation at the show. Among them were:

Phytonutrients, and resveratrol in particular, which, according to several attendees that I spoke with, is being studied for its impact on a host of conditions ranging from its anti-inflammatory properties to its impact on blood sugar, weight loss and heart health, just to name a few. Quercetin and curcumin were noted as well.

With heart health being one of the top global health concerns, plant sterols/stanols were noted for the ability to help lower LDL cholesterol, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, from fish, krill and vegetarian sources such as chia or flax.
